Yes, and whether it's worth it is subjective. If you have access to your
own supply of R12, why bother? If you are needing charging and don't want
to pay the expense of R12, it works just fine. The conversion is a little
more involved, but nothing any competent a/c shop can't handle. I've
converted other cars with no problem, and the Corvair (regardless of year)
is no different.
