Human factors and product safety are two distinct, but related
disciplines. Human factors has to do with usability ("the controls fall
readily to hand") and product safety with safe use of the product (I
can't put my hand where I shouldn't). Sometimes they're complementary
(easy to use controls means I'm not distracted in my driving) and
sometimes they're at odds (I have to have my foot on the brake before I
can start my car).
