<VV> Tips on LM fuel tank install

Okay, I am having some difficulty getting my fuel tank into my late model convertible.
I have the filler neck attached and am trying to get the neck to hit that angle through the front wheel area so it gets into the gas filler hole thing at the top of the fender. Most recent, I loosened the hose between the tank and the filler neck in hopes of helping with that angle.
Should I attempt without the filler tube attached?
