"Over and over, I hear that Corvair Owners are "cheap" and proud of it. It
is no wonder that other Clubs with less engineered vehicles tend to look
down at us. I daresay that there are damn few of current Corvair Owners who
would be forced out of the Corvair fraternity based on a upper readjustment
of "PRICE". If a "well maintained driver" suitable for "favorite status"
from the fans at a show, has got to be worth $15k to $20k.

There should be a certain amount of pride in any endeavor, and is not lack
of that emotion with Corvair Owners. But equally important to the human
emotion to something akin to snobbery. We see it every time we go to a
gathering of Packard's, Mustangs, Pontiacs, Corvettes, T-Birds, etc."

You know that is something that has been bugging me for years now. Very few
Vairs turn up at local cruise nights and car shows...yet many of them are
just as well set up or restored as any of the GTOs, Mustangs or 57 Chevys.
I take my 63 Monza vert to these shws and though I am mostly the only vair
there, I win more than my share of trophies...and get lots of favorable
notice. We need to get over whatever it is that keeps many of us from the
mainstream...and maybe start pricing our cars more realistically. It's
great to have vair only shows and cruises, but there is a whole car hobby
world out there that needs so air cooling.
