I'm new to Corvair road cars so take this accordingly. In the Corvair
aviation world, it is standard practice to NEVER re-use a cam gear. I'm not
sure why but one thing is that if it fails or slips, you must totally tear
down the engine. Another reason is that they say that a used gear is not as
strong as a new one after being pressed on and off. This may just be extra
cautious for flight engines and not really an issue with road engines. What
are you other guy's opinions?
