Hi Bob,
Out of curiosity, what do you consider to be better cams for a turbo engine. I will be building a turbo engine soon and would like to know what cam options are available.

So here is the question, how do I get the new gear off the cam? And if I get
it off, can I reuse it on another? The cam it is on is for a 110, I can't
remember what exactly it was I bought just know it was supposed to be "bigger
than stock". But I am going to try to get my turbo motor together and I am
planning on getting a new cam for it. The one that came out is kinda rusty from
bad storage on my part.
I have been told not to use the 110 camshaft with my turbo motor. Does that
sound right?
Thanks, Mark
Hi Mark,
You will likely get some differing opinions on this, and here are mine.
Do not remove and reuse a cam gear. The gear is a press fit and if reused
may not hold adequately. Cam gear failure first stops you right "there" and
requires a tow. Then it requires a total engine dismantle to get at it. So it is
something you don't want to take chances on.
As to using a 110 hp cam on a turbo....why not? That is exactly what the
factory did for the 1964 turbo engines. Of course there are better cams for the
turbo, but it's your choice.
