<VV> dim dash lights.

Hi guys,

I put less than 100 miles on my "new" '63 convertible spyder before I
started the engine rebuild. It should be on the road by this Saturday.

Anyway, I did drive it to the store & back one night. All the dash lights
were very dim. I adjusted the dimmer switch but it was all the way up. The
dimmer control adjusts from dim to off. I just couldn't get any brightness.
All other lights worked fine. The previous owner installed a complete new
bumper to bumper wiring harness (great craftsmanship). Everything else
works flawlessly. I won't troubleshoot the problem until I finish the engine
and get her back on the road.

Has anyone had a similar problem? My plan of attack is the following:

Check the fuse block for loose or corroded items. (not likely with a new
harness)

Clean and/or replace a bulb or too for a test. (not likely a bulb or socket
issue because ALL dimmable dash lamps are the same dimness.)

Is there a ground wire that may not be grounded well? (I have a wiring
diagram ordered and in the mail) This is an EM Spyder dash.

Could the rheostat in the headlamp switch be bad? Is that common? Is Clark's
the place to get a new one or is it a standard parts house item?

I'm just thinking ahead and wanted to know what you guys have seen.

Soon to have wind in my hair,

Dave Thompson
