sure sounds like a seal in the nose of the differential (internal) ,to  
me...ask me why i know...i have changed several for this problem.
 
also while i am on here, why not check out the new website, put up for  
central new york corvair club?
it will be updated with more pictures etc soon , but looks very good so far
