Yes,
Mark Langford's site has some great info on rebuilding. Make sure you read
well to edit out the airplane specific stuff.
However, the website I was talking about below is:
http://www.angelfire.com/ca4/CorvAIRCRAFT/RodBalance.html
Check it out. As I said, I've read that several guys tried this method and
things came out very well. Put the link in your archives, I did.

That's got to be Mark Langford's site.
He's got a great print out on there for turning your harmonic balancer into
a degree wheel as well.

For many years I did research to build an airplane. During my search, I
decided to use a Corvair engine for my power plant. Finances finally told me
that it was not the right time to build an airplane. So, I purchased my 63
Spyder convertible.
Anyway, during my research, I found a website of a guy that built a Corvair
engine for flight. He documented every step in great detail. Among the steps
he shows how he built a tool to balance his rods & pistons. Many guys copied
his tool and raved about the ease of use and accuracy. I looked in my
archives to find the site but couldn't. So I wrote a note on the old
aircraft e-mail list I used to be on asking for the site. I will report as
soon as I get the web link.
