Aha!  That's the key, so to look for an intermittant high beam short I have to check the high beam (green) wiring to all four headlights.

  The "low beam" lights have both a high and low beam in them and the high beam only has a high beam.  When you turn on the high beam you power the high beam filimant in the "low beam" and the high beam.  When you go t low beam, you turn off the high beam filimant in the "low beam" and turn on the low beam filimant.
