when i install the cable , i have the lever in low so the cable is out as  
far as it can be at the tranny end , then i carefully hold the tranny lever up  
above the edge of the pan , while tipping the cable as high as i can while  
pushing it slowly thru the case hole. then after its in as far as you can get it 
 , tip it down.  you are trying to put the ball in a slot with a chamfered  
end on it. it you end up pulling the pan , you will see how it goes in and 
feels  as it goes in the slot , and the next time you will probably be able to do 
it  better without pulling the pan, knowing what you trying to accomplish.ps:  
 dont forget that stupid fat o ring....
