<VV> The Corvair Fiasco

I don't mean to offend anyone, but from several perspectives the Corvair
WAS a fiasco.

>From a public relations perspective, GM's reaction to the Nader book was
a fiasco.

>From a bean counter's perspective the lack of parts commonality was a
fiasco.

>From a marketing perspective, GM's inability to exploit the car's true
potential as an "American Porsche" was a fiasco.  Can you say, "DOHC"?

However, from an engineering perspective it was brilliant.  And therein,
perhaps, lies its biggest weakness.
