<VV> Fuel Pump Pressure issues

Hi Guys, 
  I also bought a mechanical fuel pump from one of our vendors and  
discovered that the output pressure is
just under 10 PSI. What can be done to the pump to lower the pressure? As  
you can imagine, the high pressure is not doing my gas mileage any good. I could 
 just go to Summit Racing (I live in Akron, OH) and
buy a fuel pressure regulator, but I would rather just have the pump  putting 
out the correct 5 PSI. So, how  can the pump be modified to  lower the 
pressure.
