<VV> aluminumn corrosion (little corvair)

I'm looking for a safe chemical to remove corrosion and seal the aluminum wheel hubs on my intrepid R/T. I haven't found anything in the archives on the subject (corvair content). The corrosion has been reduced to pits now but at last resort I'll probably just use high grade epoxy paint to seal off the area. It is has no form or fit problems as it is just an area for clearance for the axle hub.
