<VV> Suspension part name

I am working on my 65 Monza's front end. 

1.  What is the name of the piece that connects to the wheel hub and to 
the tie rods.

2.  I removed it, and noticed it is very floppy (not a wiggle), but easy 
to move in all directions.  Is this normal?  If not what is it?  Does 
the whole piece get replaced, or just the bushing?

Thanks to all.  I tried looking threw the parts catalog, but could not 
decide which part it was.
