Interesting, I have my senders located under #3 and 4 spark plug
bases with the sender leads connected to the wires leading to the
gauge located in the engine compartment near the location of the
throttle rod exit in the firewall. I have deflashed my heads (jobber
drill bit followed up with a 1/8" x 5 1/2" round hobby file attached
to a drill) and am using the Clark's ultimate oil pan and regular
(Penn racing - the green oil) oil. I am seeing 260 to 275 head temps
regardless of the outside temps which have ranged from 105 to 29
since I have been monitoring them. I also have an oil temp gauge
located at the bottom of the block just above the lip of the oil pan
that is pretty consistent at about 250-260 after warming up; with the
high having been about 275. I have A/C, but it is not running at
this time, and the compressor and condensor are not installed.

I installed my cylinder head temp. gauge with sender unit mounted on
left head (where head snap switch would go if this head was on right
side). Thank you Seth for the suggestion. I am averaging around 350
degrees F while driving in about 15-35 degree ambient. We have gotten
almost 4 feet of snow at my house since Friday (elevation at about
7,500 feet). The Rampside with studded snow tires is the only vehicle
we have now that works- the wifes Volvo XC70 could not get out.
