Jim,
I've got the jack you describe (or at least the
Michelin-branded one they were selling 3 or 4 years
ago) and *wouldn't* buy it again. I don't know how
well I can describe the problem I've had with it, but
basically, it can't begin a "lift" at the upper end of
it's range. It will lift okay to get my 'Vair up on
jack stands, but when it's time to bring her down, I
have to scramble for the wood blocks and the small,
cheap Western Auto unit I bought 30 years ago and
shuffle the car down a little bit at a time. I've
checked oil levels and tried the bleeding procedure
described on the instruction sheet that came with the
jack--all to no avail. I don't have another
suggestion, but I wouldn't recommend this one.

for a new floor jack,
so yesterday we ran over to Sam's Club to look at a
3.5 ton jack they
have for $64.72. It's a Michelin brand, model G-735.
It's made in
China, of course, but we're wondering if anyone has
any experience and/or
opinions about this make & model. He's gone through
a number of
Craftsman jacks lately and would like to avoid
another POS boat anchor.
How about it? Does anyone have anything good or bad
to say about this
jack? What about other jacks in the hobbyist price
range?
