it might be possible to get tubular control
arms which would probably ease the installation of the airbags, and ramp up
the "cool" factor.

It is easy as pie to make up tubular control arms for anything ... 
Buy steel tubing for each part you will need.  Something to fit the
ball joints or cut the ball joint mount off an old control arm, and 
tubing that will fit the bushings to be used.  Make a plywood 
fixture to hold the pieces in the proper locations then fit and 
weld together.  Add a plate to mount the bags.  Make some for 
the upper while you are at it.
