320 gig usb "notebook " drive takes my data when i feel it is needed , then  
off to the fireproof safe with it. it started out as a "ghost bootable image" 
of  my main hard drive so it can be used to boot my machine if i have a 
catastrophic  failure. i use the 4 gig thumb drive to move backups of newsletter 
work and  updates of address books between machines. my motto with puters is 
"redundancy"  and virus scans. if your hard drive is under @ 160 - 200 gig or so 
it is more  than likely old enough to worry about failing...(variables 
considered..)
