<VV> Flywheel questions

Is it necessary/ beneficial to pull the engine to replace
a flywheel on a late model four-speed?

I'm replacing a trans and possibly a differential, and 
I'm pondering going ahead and replacing the flywheel on
general principles. 

As far as I know, my present stock flywheel is fine.

Is it easy enough to leave the flywheel alone for now
and replace it later if (or some would say when) it 
gives problems?
