Greg,
Ask for a "strut compressor". It has external hooks as per Rick.
Worked for me.

I wish to thank all for the helpful tips and suggestions. I will be
trying
Rick's suggestion to re-install the new springs as it appears to be the
most
controlled from a stored energy standpoint. (I beat myself up enough
during
my mountain bike rides - I do not think I need to add another method to
the
mix.)
