It depends on who did the rebuild, Dave.  Most rebuilders do not remove the 
magnet shaft for cleaning and relube, as I do. If it was not done, the 40 
year old worn out and dried up grease will surely allow  squealing. Look at 
the end of the speedo unit where the cable fits in, if it is smooth and 
nicely swaged over the brass ring, it was not removed. In my opinion, that 
is not a complete rebuild.
