We used to run premium (91 or 93 octane) pump gas in the Legends race car.
Looking for more performance, we changed to VP race fuel, I forget which code number.
Now that we were using real race fuel, I asked Bryan, the driver, if he could feel any difference. He said, "no it seems the same". We confirmed his feelings on the stop watch by not seeing any increase in performance as his lap times were unchanged.
We continued running the VP race fuel at a cost of about $6.50 a gallon, even though we couldn't see any difference in performance on the track, but what we did see was lower engine temperature.
The Legends cars run a Yamaha 1200cc bike motor, which is an air / oil cooled motor and always run hot. Changing to the VP race fuel lowered our engine temperatures.
