Dennis - In my neck of the woods, the glass quart with metal spout was the 
way "recycled" oil was sold.  I bought a lot of it for a '35 Ford flathead I 
had around 1963-4 which used it quickly.  Could not go very fast in that car 
because you never knew how quickly you could stop with the mechanical 
brakes.

Was the metal can before or after the glass bottle with the rigid spout. 
Filled with the same pump.
