I had a similar problem with an outboard recently. I kept saying it's got
spark, fuel and compression so why won't it start? I barely got a "poof"
with ether.

I forgot that you need 4 not 3 things - spark, fuel, compression AND for
those 3 to be in the right place at the right time - eg timing. In my case,
I had a crankshaft keyway shear (don't ask!) thus messing up the timing.

Spike has a turbo with 2 carbs and he has a Safeguard too right Smitty?
Maybe, in spite of the fat sparks, the Safeguard is bamboozled.  Gas, spark
and compression - it ought to at least fire.  Unless something is telling it
not to.
