Obviously, Charles isn't completely up on the technical accuracies of how a voltmeter or a tach works. But come on, give him a break. I've never been involved in the electronic industry, but I could at least get the jist of his problem. He put a voltmeter across the tach, or perhaps it was an ohmmeter, and it showed no voltage or an open circuit. Can we?give people a little break, maybe even show some respect before we jump down their throats?

I only worked in the electronic industry for about twenty years, so I
reckon that was not long enough for me to be able to understand what was
just said. If someone would decipher this for me, perhaps I can help solve
the problem.
I would be very intersted in knowing about a voltage meter that can send a
positive ( or negative) charge throught something.
