Bill,
If you DO try revving up the engine in Low and using the brake to hold
the car stopped, do NOT do this more than a very FEW seconds before you let go
of the brakes and start moving since this puts lots of HP into heating up
the trans fluid. It won't take more than a little time to destroy the fluid
and cause all kinds of $$$$$ problems with the PG. And after you do this, run
the car for about a half hour on the highway to give the fluid a chance to
circulate and stabilize at more normal temps.
Check with Billy Bruce to see how he did it with his turbocharged PG
Corvair when he won the FTD at the Corvair drag race at the Lexington, Kentucky
Convention a few years ago.

Don't do it, Bill. Or if you do, pray first.
A 140 automatic is arguably the slowest corvair off the line, so you really
don't have a chance at winning anyway.
Your spider gears in the diff would probably be the weak link. Expensive!
If you must do it, use the powerbraking tecnique. Put it in "L" and stand on
the brake and gas at the same time and release the brake on "go". Practice
it a bit first.
yea, Vairily ... Shaun
