As far as the fuel delivery problem, most of us have added an additional  
fuel filter to protect the brass filters in each carb.  I would (1) check  the 
brass filters at the carb inlets and (2) check for a fuel filter (typically  in 
the left rear wheel well where the metal line connects to the engine  
compartment fuel line with a rubber hose) and replace that fuel filter (if you  have 
one).
