David,
    If it's better mileage you're seeking with  your turbovair, add vacuum 
advance to your distributor.  When I did that to  my stock 180 Corsa the mileage 
on the everyday trip to work increased over 20%  (from 18 mpg to 22 mpg).

    But I may have already mentioned this a  few thousand times

If I  remember correctly, I believe that Steve Goodman (Rear Engine 
Specialist) in  Colorado has 3.08's in his 62 Spyder and baja bug (both are 180hp 
turbos). I  believe he said that it helped put more load on the turbo to help with 
boost.  He also said he got about 19 mpg. I've always been curious about 
finding a  3.08, but I would imagine that a 4-speed would be a must. Wasn't the 
3.08 only  offered in 63?
