<VV> 1962 radio

hi, i recently bought a complete nos 1962 radio kit. my question- there are 
three capacitors, one for the coil, one for the generator and one for the 
voltage regulator. there are also three engine to body copper ground straps- what 
purpose do the capacitors and ground straps serve in the function of the radio? 
the above mentioned parts do not appear to be present on my 63 that has the 
transistor radio. thanks, jim
