What? Do you want CORSA to just give away all of the book or just sell them all at cost?
First of all, CORSA needs funds to operate, simple fact.
Second, CPF is financially a separate organization from CORSA, so auctioning CPF inventory would not benefit CORSA.
Thirdly, if there is a desire for some of the "special" books, why shouldn't CORSA reap the financial reward? Why is that wrong?
What does you comment about paying for the convention without having a convention have to do with auctioning off less than two dozen books? At the end of the auction you do get a book. Your convention example has no reward. There's no requirement that you have to bid on these books.
The autographed books were always going to be sold at an increased price.
A member contacted CORSA about buying "specific" numbered books. This was an indication that a "special number" market exists. Why not let the market determine the prices?
If these special books are not something that you're into, don't bid on them. The remaining books are available at the regular CORSA price.

Great Idea Joel,
We could even have all our members send in the Convention registration money,
lus what they would spend for travel, room and board to CORSA and instead of
aving a convention CORSA could invest the money into a market fund and get a
reat return on the members money.
Going further we could put the entire CPF inventory up on E-bay . . .
Sometimes we get the COR$A in front of the Corvair.

I would think putting it up on Ebay is the "fairest" way for the most CORSA
Members to participate. Auctioning them at a Convention (or any other
event) would limit access to only those that could attend. Besides, it's
just good business on the part of CORSA's management, why shouldn't they do
what they can to maximize the member's return on investment for printing the
books?
I recall searching the net for a copy of TCD several years ago, a book store
was asking $75 for a used copy. I'm sure CORSA's brand spankin' new ones
will be quite a bit less.

Joel
P.S. I'm quite proud of my autographed copy of TCD, gentleman that he was,
Mr. Fiore only asked that I provide return shipping.

The Communiqué arrived today. There was a notice on the cover that the 25th
anniversary issue of Tony Fiores Corvair Decade has been printed in 1000
copies. Apparently, copies 1-20 were autographed and are to be offered on
EBay in November. I suppose that the folks at CORSA see this as an
excellent way to raise capital. I for one am disappointed. I would love to
have a copy (autographed or not) and would have gladly participated in an
auction at the convention or any number of other venues. But I wont be
doing so on EBay.
I can only hope that the remaining 980 copies will be made available to
those who have kept this hobby alive over the last 30 years or so and at a
reasonable price.
