David, the 69 turn signal switch will not fit on the
'65 steering column.
If you can replace the entire steering column, then
you have the advantage of the energy-absorbing safety
of the 67-69 models but it may be a job to swap.
I'd suggest gettng a new 65-66 turn signal switch.
They are available from most Corvair Vendors, and I
know they are in the Clark's catalogue.
On the 67-69 unit, you can replace the turn signal cam
($15.00 on e-bay) without replacing the entire switch,
since it's the cam that gets all the wear (at least on
the "Boyne" switch. The "Delco" switch seems to be
much more durable).
