Okay, I misspoke, and stand corrected --

'56 and later Vettes had an unequal length A-arm IFS, the same thing 
basically as the FC's and other Chevs of the era, and the '53-'55 cars 
had the '49 Chev IFS, if you want to call it that.

Don't know where that straight axle idea came from, maybe just the 
primativeness of that early post-war Chevy set-up --
