Cash-
A couple of things may be going on. First thing to remember is that the
so-called low beam bulbs have two filaments, one for low and one for high.
The high beam filaments, in the outer bulbs, go on with the inner bulbs.
Maybe the original bulb WAS blown on the low filament.
Now that you have replaced the blown bulb the extra current thru the dimmer
switch has caused a poor connection for the low beam position.
Another area of concern is the ground connection in each headlight bucket.
