I am sitting here at the keyboard with a throbbing left hand. It is the
result of missing the pickle fork with a hammer this afternoon. I was taking
apart a front crossmember assembly that arrived as "part of part of" a car. The
car was already sliced in half crosswise, before I got it. (part of part of). I
used one of my favorite tools, a battery powered impact gun. Despite a lot
of surface rust, no threaded object was able to withstand the 24Volt
onslaught! It is always nice to find bonuses to go along with the three or four small
cuts - and the hammer hit I received. Factory quick arms, 11" Camaro disk
brakes, perfect looking Bilstein shocks, along with the remaining parts of the
complete Crown suspension package. Since I had the upper arms removed, I did a
trial fit up of the new tubular A-arms I was displaying at the Deroit
convention. So far so good. And plenty of clearance for the front mounted calipers.
The 11" discs are a wee bit too big for the E/P car, but they will make a
nice street assembly for some other car. After tearing it down to the bare
crossmember - No rust on it, California car - I was beat.
I decided enough was enough and went inside to clean up and watch a show on
TV. Not just any show but one with my DAUGHTER in it! The show is on the CMT
Channel (formerly the Country Music Channel) - I guarantee no country music
need be heard. The show is "I Want to Look Like a High School Cheerleader --
Again" My daughter, Stephanie Emerson, was the girl who won her Autocross class
at both the Williamsburg and Lake Placid Corsa conventions. Well, she is 31
now, and many years away from her High School cheerleading days! But she is
one of ten women who were picked (via auditions) to go through a "boot camp"
for ex-chearleaders. The TV show is a bit hokey - much "created tension" - but
mindless to watch - don't look for any Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader/models
here. All the girls are out of shape. But it was fun to see her on TV and - as a
proud Dad - I had to tell my friends! She is easy to pick out. At 6 feet tall
with red hair, she towers over the other girls. She may or may not make it
to the end, one girl per week is jettisoned. (There is a prize to the winner),
but I am proud of her signing on for the show and doing the work. If you
see the show, drop me back a note. If you hate it - You can let me know that,
too. And if your daughter appears on National Television, I promise to watch
her!
- Seth Emerson
