Keith,  Before you do too much with the carb linkages, try disconnecting the 
accelerator rod to see how much resistance there is before it's hooked up to 
the carbs.  It should move very easily.  At your car's age, you may find that 
the binding is in the linkage beginning at the pedal and ending at the carbs 
and not at the the carb linkage itself.
