<VV> Axle spacing

I have a question. I heard this has been talked about on VV before
but I missed the boat.

I have a 63 Corvan in the shop and just had the rear axle rebuilt. We
put in a beefier late model car guts inside the early axle housing
and we are using the early car yoke that bolts to the axle. The yoke
in this set up sticks farther out than the truck yoke did which does
not have the bolt on feature.

So when we slide in the half shaft, we have a space between the brake
backing plate and the control arm assembly. We need to make a spacer
between the brake backing plate and control arm assembly. Does any
one know the correct thickness? This is important for the rear wheel
bearing. We think the spacer should be .390" thick for both side on
each axle. Is that close enough?
