Problem with asking them to put it writing, is that they just come up with
this stuff without thinking - it just comes out, and they don't even know
what they said usually.
They just say it to put the customer off guard and get them out of whatever
the customer was saying.
Most just shrug, and leave, which is the whole point of saying stuff like
that - make the customer go away.
I could write a book of just things mechanics have said, but no one would
believe it !
