Well, that tells you where #1 is. Mine looked fine after I installed the
Pertronix but they replaced the reluctor when I found that #2 was several
degrees off. One way to check for eccentricity is to put the timing light
on the coil wire. You should see three sets of marks spaced evenly around
the wheel with each pair overlapping. If two at the same rotation are
spaced apart then there is some sort of wobble going on, perhaps a worn
distributer.
This is something I would check when everything seems right but is acting
oddly.
