<Ray asked>
The ebay ad for that 69 vert got me thinking... where can I find the info I
need to identify which ratio axle I have without actually measuring and
counting turns? Should be easy as the car is in pieces! ggg I'd like to know
what ratio I've got, but its not worth a whole lot of trouble to me.

Also, while we are at it what were the available ratio's with the four
speeds?

Thanks! Ray Rodriguez 65 Corsa 140/4 (under construction) <unsnip>

Ray, as Joel said, you can look for the faintly stamped codes, and then look
the code up in a book. What that will tell you is what that case was loaded
with when it was made for the car it was originally installed in assuming it
hasn't been changed in 40 years.. (Are you getting my drift?) Having
personally rebuilt dozens and dozens of Corvair differentials, often involving
changing cases and gear ratios, I'll say that the only way to tell what you have
is to physically check them. You can either put the trans in 4th and count
engine turns required to get one full turn on the axles, or you can remove the
top cover and count teeth. 36/11 = 3.27 32/9 = 3.55. These were the only
factory ratios available in a late model. EMs could be had with those ratios
plus 3.08 and 3.89. The aftermarket additionally offered 4.11. Most likely
you have 3.55 gears with your 140.
