Eric from Minnesota makes a fantastic point. To borrow a famous bit from legendary Ray Charles, ... hit the road... For people the simple advice is always eat more fruits and vegetables and be sure to get enough fiber AND try and get away from the house/office daily and simply go on a 45minute walk around the neighborhood, etc or if thats not possible do what you can at least twice a week and then try three times until you get almost daily. That is what my friend and neighbor Dr George tells people who casually ask him on the street or in the line at the grocery store. Sounds simple but most people don't. Years ago when my parents were still alive, I had friends always tell me that they would see my parents walking several miles everyday whether the temp outside was 35 or 95 and then they would sometimes joke that they themselves couldn't hardly make it to the mailbox or play one hole without an EZ-GO (this was when we were late 30's -40's and
my folks were well over 75 and 80 -- something they did until my dad died at over 90 back in '99. What does this have to do with cars and Corvairs in particular---- well just as aging human beings and thats everybody, the old saying "Use it or lose it" certainly applies, and aging motor vehicles are not too different in suffering mechanical atrophy from lack of movement. The Vair doesn't need Metamucil or bran flakes, just decent gas, oil and a good drive. Hey, those of you with dogs walk them and feed them and play with them everyday, I know you do. Though your Corvair can't bark, or chase a tennis ball, it wants to growl and hit the road too. --And you don't have to scoop after it. Basic message : do what is right for both you and your cars. Check the oil, tires, gas and brakes.. and maybe grab a hat, sunglasses, a few choice tunes, possibly the Mrs. to ride shotgun or just the dog, pop the top if thats the case, no poppin
brewskies and no pre ride cocktails for the driver . Ya remember the old rock song that went: " I just want to celebrate another day of living , I just wanna celebrate another day of life " Remember the old Schlitz motto: go for the gusto, ... cause you only go around once... To quote another famous Minnesota son: "may you stay Forever Young" and "head on down Highway 61" Time for takin it to the streets, Feelin' Alright, Southbound, Blue Sky, Ramblin' Man, Good Golly Miss Molly, ...Angie, ain't it good to be alive, ...Beep, Beep ...Beep, Beep, Yeah... rollin down highway 41 , just enjoyin' da ride , the tunes, the company, the sights, the whole experience with No Particular Place To Go.. What better way to enjoy your favorite car..., sure it looks good in the garage but the road calls... In the words of the Chambers Brothers, "Time Has Come Today" ! - Tamias Metis
