Thee are two sources of engine oil in the bellhousing, assuming there are no 
cracks.  The large seal that goes around the smooth portion of the flywheel 
mounting flange (on the crankshaft gear). It is mounted in the bellhousing 
from the block side. The other source is thru the flywheel mounting bolts. 
They must have some Permatex or similar put on the threads when installing.

Yesterday I separated my tranny from my engine to change the clutch.. (the 
engine and tranny are both out of the car) and I found that the inside of 
the bellhousing is coated with oil.. just a moderate film of it on the 
entire inside of the bellhousing.  Does this indicate a bad seal or 
something?  The film of goo doesnt smell like gear oil, so I'm guessing its 
motor oil.

Please advise as to what to inspect, if this is normal or not etc.
