Tony,
Actually I am afraid that the 37,253 misprint in Tony Fiore Corvair Decade book on page 139 in a two page spread compiled and edited by David Ellis is the culprit. David lists this breakdown of 67 numbers
1967
500 Coupes 9,257
500 Sedan 2,959
Monza Coupe 9,771
Monza Sedan 3,157
Monza Convertible 2,109
Add them up and you get 27,253. Shows how easily a simple mistake can multiply once in print.
