Guys,
I have been on numerous tow-dolly adventures (not all with Corvairs).
When towing backwards - there is generally an oscillation at a speed slower than you want to travel. I believe that the front end, now effectively toed out causes this. I have been tempted to adjust one tie rod to toe the front end 'in' (while backwards) to see if it makes a difference - but have not yet tried it. With a trailer available and no tow dolly, I don't expect I will. In any case, make sure the steering is locked as securely as possible.
Of the Corvairs I have towed forwards - all have towed beautifully; but I check the transaxle occasionally for excess heat. I have never had a problem.
