<snip>
I am getting ready to have my 64 110 converted to electric fuel pump and would
like to hear any experiences people have had with various units.
1. Reliability.
2. Noise, I have heard some can be annoying.
3. Possible experienced failure rate.
Thanks,

Electric pumps are fine, if there's a good filter between the tank and pump, they should go about 100k.

They don't like to run dry, I understand they have a lifetime max of about 30 seconds of dry-run time. (I have no facts to back that up however) For this reason, the best spot is behind the floor support, just aft of the tank and next to the tunnel. It's easy to place a metal shield over this area to protect the pump. Do everything you can to isolate the pump from direct contact with the metal you mount it on. Otherwise, you will hear it running as you drive. For maximum benefit, you'll want to bypass or neuter the engine fuel pump so as not to fill the crankcase with fuel when/if the mechanical pump diaphragm fails. The best electrical hook-up is through a relay so that when oil pressure goes away, the pump stops running. If it were me, I'd also wire the relay so that the pump runs during cranking even when there's no oil pressure. Watch pressures AFIK, you want about 3-4 PSI.
