Then got to wondering. How hard would it be to hook up an mp3 input jack to
an FM converter equipped car? My 63 Monza has an original AM radio with an
FM converter. Has anyone out there ever tried to hook an mp3 player to the
FM converter? Or would it be easier cheaper to just spend the 75 to
100
clams for a radio that has a jack built in already? I would love to hear
from anyone with experience in this kind of madness.
If stock appearance is important, you can do what many people have done and
use the small FM transmitters. The sound quality takes a hit. But since the
signal will be taking the convoluted route from the MP3 player, through an FM
transmitter to the FM converter to the AM radio, chances are it won't sound
much different than the AM signal you are used to! If you do change radios, -
much easier to do on an early than on a late, get the one with the mini-jack
on the front. Several new ones even have a USB jack and/or an SDRAM slot on
the front. Plug in and play your music. - Except for Hank. If you do update the
early, There are neat speaker-mount brackets that Corvair Underground sells.
They mount the speakers on the kick panels down in the foot wells. - Seth
