terrible damage, not to mention personal injury.There are safety wire kits 
available (Home Depot) to prevent flying springs.

Here's one to add to your DAMHIK files-if one of the springs holding your 
garage door up breaks, go ahead and buy both of them.  Not saying you should 
replace both, but betting you'll need to sooner rather than later.

Adding fixing garage doors to the list of things I'm glad I don't do for a 
living.
