<VV> Carrera shock adjustment

I have a set of Carrera adjustable shocks I plan to put on my V8 Project 
tomorrow but none of the shock boxes have directions for setting the 
firmness...just multiple ways to mount them for different applications. I 
see that each of the shocks has arrows with 1, 2, 3 in them which I assume 
is soft medium and firm...Is that correct? But how do I "set" them. Help!!

I was planning to start with a meduuim/firm setting int tne rear and a 
soft/mediun in the front.
