<VV> RE: Holiday posts (No-Corvair)

I don't know about the "purity" of Corvair Center or the amount of enemies there but it's possible the reason why there's no "pissing and moaning" on off-topic posts is because of its forum format.  When you go to the forum webpage you are presented with a page full of topics.  You get to choose which ones you want to check out or ignore.  With an email list like VV, you have no choice about what messages you are presented with.  That's why we have our guidelines, to guide us in posting correctly to minimize posts that aren't on the subject that we're supposed to be talking about (Corvairs) and to help us weed out the posts we're not interested in.  It's not a perfect system but we have to try - (or not based on what some of you have emailed me).  

I prefer the forum format but not everyone here is on the Corvair Center forum.  You get different points of view and different knowledge here.  That's why I participate in both.  At least until we officially turn this into the no-Corvair chit-chat list.
