What do you call an excessive cooldown?  Shroudless in IL with not many 
(any?) long downhill runs.

Head temp stays in the 275 - 300 - 325 (rarely) range at highway speeds.  If 
it drops by 50 degrees, is that excessive?  Over what time period?  A 
minute, two, five - 20 seconds?

That is about the most I see it change - and relatively gradually - a couple 
of minutes or more when slowing for a toll booth.  I often back out of the 
throttle a bit a half mile or more before the booth.

I could see a possible concern in mountainous areas, but those drivers are 
probably already aware of the potential problem.  I don't see it being a 
concern for a large % of Vair owners.

Also, someone mentioned a water splash could crack something.  I seriously 
doubt it.
